On August 27–28, our CEO, Janusz Skóra-Cichowski, had the opportunity to join the tech community at TechBBQ, held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.

What started back in 2013 as a small BBQ gathering for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs has now grown into the heartbeat of the Scandinavian startup and innovation ecosystem. Today, TechBBQ is a large-scale summit that attracts participants from around the globe for two days of inspiration, networking, and growth.

A Global Event with a Local Soul

TechBBQ stands out as a world-class event while remaining deeply connected to the Danish startup scene. The organization, quality, and scale are truly impressive—European-level, if not beyond.

The event strikes a unique balance: offering international perspectives while nurturing homegrown innovation. This combination gives attendees both a broader view of global trends and an authentic look into Denmark’s thriving startup ecosystem.

Key Impressions

Janusz noted that while Danish startups are maturing rapidly, there seems to be a growing inward focus on strengthening internal innovation rather than outward expansion compared to past years. Still, the vibrancy, collaboration, and founder-driven energy make TechBBQ an essential experience for anyone in the European innovation space.

It also raised a reflection—what if Poland had a similarly robust startup ecosystem, strongly rooted in local ideas, supported by founder-led investments, and reinforced by solid infrastructure? Events like TechBBQ show what’s possible when the right environment meets entrepreneurial ambition.

By the Numbers

  • ~8,000 attendees each year, including entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and media
  • ~2,200 startup representatives showcasing ideas and building connections
  • ~1,200 investors, about half of them from outside Denmark

Final Thoughts

TechBBQ is more than just a conference—it’s an ecosystem in motion. For founders, investors, and ecosystem builders across Europe, it’s a place where innovation thrives, opportunities are created, and inspiration flows.

We’re proud to have been part of this year’s edition and look forward to building on the energy and insights gained in Copenhagen.
